History
The Office of the Dean, Graduate School of Engineering (GSER) at Mid-West University (MU) in Birendranagar, Surkhet, was established to provide regional access to technical higher education. It operates as the chief administrative and academic body overseeing both undergraduate and graduate engineering programs in Nepal’s Karnali Province.
Key Milestones & Development
- University Inception: Mid-West University was established by the Government of Nepal on June 17, 2010, aiming to decentralize higher education in the mid-western region.
- Establishment: Following the university's formation, the Faculty of Engineering was created to offer localized training in disciplines such as Civil, Computer, and Hydropower Engineering.
- Transition to Graduate School: The faculty was subsequently elevated to the Graduate School of Engineering, allowing the Dean's office to focus on advanced M.Sc. programs like Structural Engineering and Construction Management alongside its foundational B.E. degrees.
- Recent Developments: The Dean’s office has focused heavily on infrastructure and academic expansion, leading efforts to establish advanced research laboratories for Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, and Machine Learning.
The Dean's Office oversees over 380+ students, 30+ faculty members, and facilitates admissions through its central department premises in Sano Surkhet.
